License Problem

The most common cause of license problems is typing the license code incorrectly during installation. If you are having a problem with your license,

1) Select the Configure | License menu.
2) Press the [Your License] button.
3) Enter your name and license code EXACTLY as they are listed in your order confirmation email.

Older Versions: If your older version does not have the Configure | License menu, you can either reinstall your registered version and enter your code when asked, or

1) Select the Help | About menu.
2) Press the "L" key on your keyboard when the About dialog appears.
3) Enter the name with which you ordered and your license key EXACTLY (case matters).

Moving to a New Computer

If you want to move your licensed copy of Judy's Application to a new computer, simply install it on the new computer using your original purchased media (CD, diskette, or download file). Enter your license code when asked, and once you have everything working, uninstall your copy from the old computer.

Judy's CountDown events can be easily moved by using the "File | Export" menu command, and then the "File | Import" menu command on the new computer. Users of versions prior to v2.0 can simply move their CntDwn.dat file from their Windows directory on their old computer to their new computer (note: this does not work beginning with v1.5).

Paste into Adobe Acrobat

In some cases, pasting tape contents into Adobe Acrobat may not look aligned. Solution for licensed users of v5.0 is to download latest v5.0 update. Other users should upgrade.

Be sure to create a text box before pasting, click in the text box, and then paste ... your tape will look perfect. If you just paste, Acrobat will strip the formatting and it will look bad.

Sounds on Microsoft Windows Vista

Some Windows Vista sound systems try to embellish sounds, and as a result can't keep up with fast typists.  If your TenKey sounds don't seem to be keeping up with your typing:

1) Open the Vista Control Panel.
2) Select Sounds.
3) Select the Speakers option.
4) Select the Enhancements tab.
5) Put a checkmark in the "Disable All Enhancements" checkbox.

Print or File Operation Crashes

Judy's TenKey crashes on some Vista machines when trying to print or perform a file operation (e.g., Save As, Open). Solution for licensed users of v5.0 is to download latest v5.0 update. Other users should upgrade.

Open TK File by Double-Clicking

To be able to automatically open a saved tape file by double-clicking on it in the Windows Explorer, licensed users of v5.0 can download latest v5.0 update. Other users should upgrade.

Microsoft Windows Vista Help System

Does not apply to users of latest Judy's Applications programs (upgrade here).

To enable older Judy's Applications programs' Help to function on Microsoft Windows Vista, go to this Microsoft page and press [Continue] to download the needed WinHlp32.exe component.

Application Appears in Task Bar But Not on Screen (pre-v4.04)

Does not apply to users of latest Judy's Applications programs (upgrade here).

Judy's Applications products have the ability to remember their last location and display themselves there. If you have turned on "Save Settings on Exit" and you close the program when it is iconified, it will record invalid values for its display location. The next time you launch the program, it will try to display itself off the screen, so you will only see it in the Task Bar. If you are having this problem, you can simply edit the application's ini file and change the settings Left and Top to 0.

There is also a free Judy's TenKey update available that fixes this problem for older versions; licensed users can download it from our Downloads page.

"Wrong version of Ctl3d32.dll" Warning Message

Does not apply to users of latest Judy's Applications programs (upgrade here).

Some Windows 95 systems complain that the version of the Microsoft dynamic link library "ctl3d32.dll" shipped with Judy's Applications software is intended for Windows NT. If you are having this problem, right-click on ctl3d32.dll (26K), select Save As from the pop-up menu, and save this to your "Windows\System" folder, replacing whatever you have there now.

Some Web browsers rename this file to "ctl3d32.exe" when they download it. If this happens, just rename it back to "ctl3d32.dll".

CountDown Holiday Date is Incorrect

Some holidays change dates from year to year. Users of version 2.0 or better should make sure that "Settings | Auto Update" is selected to ensure that you always have the latest definitions.

Users of older version can periodically download an updated CountDown event definition set (1KB). Just use the "Settings | Get Update" menu option to automatically merge these updates in with your own personal event set.
